Ukraine reports drone attacks, Mariupol explosions, and rising Kyiv death toll

Ukraine faced drone attacks in Sumy and explosions in Mariupol on July 3. Kyiv's July 2 death toll rose to 25, with ongoing front-line combat reported by the General Staff, including missile and air strikes.

On July 3, a Russian drone attack in Ukraine's Sumy region, specifically the Romny community, resulted in the deaths of two women and injuries to one man. Separately, explosions and fires were reported in occupied Mariupol on the night of July 3, with a local resistance group suggesting drones targeted parked trucks. Meanwhile, the death toll from Russia's July 2 missile and drone assault on Kyiv increased to 25, with search and rescue operations continuing at three sites in the Darnytskyi district, where eight individuals remain unaccounted for at one location. A hospital in Kherson was also shelled on July 2, killing a 63-year-old doctor and injuring a nurse. Ukraine's General Staff reported 224 combat engagements across the front lines on July 2, with the Pokrovsk, Sloviansk, and Huliaipole directions experiencing the highest number of Russian attacks, including 28 in Pokrovsk and 20 in Huliaipole. Russian forces also conducted two missile strikes involving 75 missiles, 62 air strikes, and deployed 187 guided bombs.
