These reports followed earlier claims that Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps had launched drone and missile attacks on US military facilities in both nations on June 27, in retaliation for prior US strikes. The US Central Command subsequently announced additional strikes on Iranian targets the same day, citing an attack on a tanker in the Strait of Hormuz. Amidst these exchanges, Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi declared Tehran had regained "full control over shipping in the Strait of Hormuz for the next 30 days," cautioning against attempts to bypass Iranian-approved routes.
