Iran reportedly strikes US military sites in Kuwait and Bahrain amid escalating tensions

Following earlier US military actions, Iran reportedly launched drone and missile attacks on US military facilities in Kuwait and Bahrain, described as retaliation for previous American strikes. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed additional strikes on Iranian targets on June 27, stating these were in response to an attack on a tanker in the Strait of Hormuz. This follows President Donald Trump's confirmation of US strikes on June 26, which targeted missile and drone storage facilities and coastal radar stations after an attack on a Singapore-flagged merchant vessel. Trump accused Tehran of violating a ceasefire and reiterated threats. Separately, a tanker in the Strait of Hormuz sustained damage from an "unidentified projectile" on June 27, with its bridge affected but crew reported safe by the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO).
