These followed earlier US strikes on June 26, which targeted missile and drone storage facilities and coastal radar stations after an attack on a Singapore-flagged merchant vessel in the Strait of Hormuz. President Donald Trump confirmed these actions, accusing Tehran of violating a ceasefire and reiterating threats. Vice President J.D. Vance affirmed that "violence will be met with violence" following the strikes. Separately, a tanker in the Strait of Hormuz sustained damage from an "unidentified projectile" on June 27, with its bridge affected but crew reported safe by the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO).
