United States vice president reiterates stance as new tanker incident reported

Following United States forces' strikes on Iranian military facilities on June 26, US Vice President J.D. Vance reiterated that “violence will be met with violence.” The US Central Command (CENTCOM) had confirmed these strikes were a decisive response to an attack on a merchant vessel in the Strait of Hormuz, with targets including missile and drone storage facilities and coastal radar stations. US President Donald Trump had previously accused Tehran of violating a ceasefire agreement. Separately, on June 27, a tanker in the Strait of Hormuz reported damage from an "unidentified projectile," according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO). The UKMTO stated the vessel's bridge was damaged, but the crew remained safe.
