US and Iran exchange strikes amid escalating tensions

US and Iranian forces have exchanged military strikes following attacks on merchant vessels and military facilities, with both sides claiming their actions were in response to prior aggression.
US forces conducted strikes on Iranian missile and drone storage facilities and coastal radar stations on June 26, following an attack on a Singapore-flagged merchant vessel. President Donald Trump confirmed these actions, accusing Tehran of violating a ceasefire and issuing further threats. In response, Iran's Revolutionary Guard reportedly launched drone and missile attacks against US military installations in Kuwait and Bahrain. Subsequently, on June 27, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced additional strikes on Iranian targets. CENTCOM stated these latest actions were a response to an attack on a tanker in the Strait of Hormuz, which sustained damage from an "unidentified projectile".
