Ukraine intercepts drones, strikes Russian oil terminal, tests new defense tech

Ukrainian air defenses intercepted 124 of 155 Russian strike drones on June 8. Forces also struck an oil terminal in Novorossiysk and destroyed a Russian deployment point in Luhansk. New autonomous drone tech was tested.

Ukrainian air defenses reportedly intercepted 124 of 155 Russian strike drones launched from multiple directions, including occupied Crimea, on the night of June 8. The drones included Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, Banderol, and "Parody" imitator types. Twenty drones struck 17 locations across Ukraine's northern, southern, and eastern regions. Separately, Ukrainian forces, including operators from the 1st Separate Center of Unmanned Systems and Special Operations Forces, struck the "Grushova" oil terminal in Novorossiysk, Russia, causing a fire. The facility is part of the "Sheskharis" complex, with damage extent being clarified. On June 7, Ukrainian forces destroyed a temporary Russian deployment point in Shchastia, Luhansk, targeting the 5th Cossack reconnaissance and assault brigade "Terek." Additionally, Ukraine successfully combat-tested a new autonomous drone technology in Kharkiv Oblast, automating 95% of Shahed interception.
