IAEA reports shelling near ZNPP; Ukraine claims strikes on Russian vessels
The IAEA reported heavy shelling of the Zaporizhzhia TPP, crucial for ZNPP's power. Ukraine's General Staff claimed hits on Russian military targets, including a patrol ship, while satellite images showed a fire on the Russian corvette 'Boykiy' in Kronstadt.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reported intense shelling of the Zaporizhzhia Thermal Power Plant (TPP) on June 4. IAEA experts at the nearby Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) confirmed hearing combat and seeing smoke from the TPP, whose switchyard is vital for ZNPP's power supply. Meanwhile, Ukraine's General Staff stated its forces struck several Russian military sites on June 3 and 4, including a "Svitliak" class border patrol vessel in the Azov Sea. Satellite images from June 3 also showed firefighters addressing a blaze on the Russian corvette "Boykiy" in Kronstadt, an incident previously claimed by Ukrainian forces. Separately, Russian forces used a Lancet drone to attack Semenivka in the Chernihiv region on June 4, igniting a private logging company's loader. Reports also detail new Russian drone tactics near Kharkiv, involving "Molniya-1" carrier drones and FPV drones capable of extended loitering.
