UN commission reiterates Gaza 'genocide' claim amid regional tensions and Iran's internal crackdown
A UN commission has again accused Israel of "genocide" in Gaza, while regional tensions persist with a West Bank killing and Hezbollah's ceasefire violation claims. Meanwhile, Iran intensifies internal repression.
An international United Nations commission of inquiry reaffirmed its finding of an ongoing "genocide" in the Gaza Strip on June 23, alleging that Israel is "deliberately targeting" Palestinian children. The commission asserted that "by targeting children, Israel attacks the very capacity of the Palestinian people to exist." Concurrently, Israeli forces killed Mohammed Zayed, 29, during a raid in Al-Yamoun, occupied West Bank, on June 24, a fatality confirmed by the Israeli army following Palestinian reports. In Lebanon, Hezbollah accused Israel of two ceasefire breaches within 48 hours, after an Israeli drone strike killed two individuals, a day after two others died from Israeli fire. Separately, Iran has reportedly intensified its internal repression, with political executions continuing, despite a recent memorandum of understanding with the United States.
