EU ambassadors held urgent discussions on June 3 concerning the initiation of preparations for the official opening of Cluster 1, "Foundations," for Ukraine and Moldova. This item was added to the agenda of the Committee of Permanent Representatives (Coreper) meeting. Separately, the Cypriot presidency announced it has commenced preparations for the formal opening of this initial cluster within the EU accession negotiations for both countries. The presidency stated its intention to continue working diligently in the coming days to finalize Council discussions on the cluster's official launch, guided by a merit-based approach.
