Kyiv authorities have declared July 3 a day of mourning following a large-scale Russian missile and drone attack on the capital overnight into July 2. The assault, involving 74 missiles and 496 drones, including numerous ballistic types launched simultaneously from various directions, caused extensive damage across all Kyiv districts. Rescue operations are ongoing, particularly at a residential building in the Darnytskyi district, where a family, including a 15-year-old girl, is being sought under rubble after a section of the structure was reportedly "literally blown away." The State Emergency Service reports 13 fatalities and over 30 injuries, with 17 individuals rescued from the Darnytskyi building. The Ministry of Internal Affairs detailed destruction across six districts, affecting multiple residential and non-residential structures.
