Meanwhile, the United States reportedly intends to substantially decrease its military aircraft and warship contributions to NATO operations in Europe. European officials worry this reduction could weaken NATO's long-range strike and reconnaissance capabilities. The conflict's duration has also now exceeded that of the "Great Patriotic War" (1941-1945), a point highlighted by Russian opposition figures to underscore perceived strategic failures.
