Israel conducted airstrikes on military targets in western and central Iran on Monday, June 8. This action followed Iran's launch of ballistic missiles towards northern Israel on Sunday, June 7, marking the first such attack since an April 8 ceasefire. The Iranian missile launch came after Israeli airstrikes in Beirut, which were a response to Hezbollah's rocket fire into northern Israel. Former US President Donald Trump had urged Israel to exercise restraint following Iran's missile launch. Following Israel's strikes, Iran's Armed Forces Central Command announced it had ceased its attacks, stating its objectives were met and warning against any further Israeli aggression. Israel's Home Front Command had previously implemented stricter public restrictions and canceled schools nationwide.
