Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy disclosed intelligence documents indicating increasing internal discontent within Russia and reiterated that Europe would struggle without Ukraine's experience in countering Russian aggression. Concurrently, a UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission report confirmed May 2026 saw the highest civilian casualties in Ukraine in four years due to Russian aggression. Separately, Bundeswehr Space Command Commander Michael Traut speculated Russia might be developing space-based nuclear warheads, which could render "part of the orbit... unusable for decades." Additionally, reports suggest the United States intends to substantially decrease its military aircraft and warship contributions to NATO in Europe, a decision European officials fear could diminish the alliance's long-range capabilities.
