US Supreme Court expands Trump administration's immigration authority

The US Supreme Court has further empowered the Trump administration's immigration policies through two recent decisions, upholding the revocation of Temporary Protected Status for Haitians and Syrians and allowing a potential block on asylum seekers at the Mexican border.
The US Supreme Court has further empowered the Trump administration's immigration policies through two recent decisions. Building on previous rulings, the conservative-majority court upheld the administration's authority to revoke Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for approximately 350,000 Haitian and 6,000 Syrian immigrants. The court determined that existing law does not grant the judiciary the power to review executive branch decisions regarding TPS designations. Additionally, the Supreme Court authorized the administration to potentially reinstate a policy that would physically prevent asylum seekers from crossing the Mexican border to submit their claims in the United States. These rulings, supported by the court's six conservative justices, remove significant obstacles to the administration's stricter immigration enforcement.
