US launches strikes on Iran amid regional tensions, Israel strikes southern Lebanon

The US conducted new strikes against Iran after a vessel attack, prompting Iranian retaliation against US bases. Separately, Israeli air strikes in southern Lebanon killed one person, a day after a peace deal was signed, which Hezbollah condemned.
The United States has conducted new strikes against Iran, following a drone attack on a Panama-flagged vessel in the Strait of Hormuz. US Central Command stated it targeted multiple sites across Iran, describing the action as a direct response to "continued aggression" against commercial shipping. In retaliation, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced it had launched missiles and drones towards US infrastructure located in Kuwait and Bahrain. Separately, Israeli air strikes in southern Lebanon resulted in one fatality and at least two injuries, according to Lebanon's health ministry and state news agency. These strikes occurred a day after Israel and Lebanon signed an agreement aimed at fostering lasting peace, which Hezbollah has reportedly condemned. The Israeli military confirmed carrying out the drone strike.
