US forces begin strikes against Iran after alleged helicopter downing

US Central Command announced that American forces have initiated retaliatory strikes against Iran, following former President Trump's claim that Iranian forces shot down a US Apache helicopter.
US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that American forces have initiated retaliatory strikes against Iran. This action follows former US President Donald Trump's earlier claim that Iranian forces shot down a US Apache helicopter during an overnight patrol over the Strait of Hormuz. Trump, writing on Truth Social, stated he was informed by the military of the incident and indicated the United States "will certainly have to respond to this attack." He also noted that the two pilots aboard were unharmed. CENTCOM's statement confirms the commencement of a US response.
