Ukrainian sprinter Honcharenko achieves career-best time as US Olympian Thomas sets world lead

Ukrainian sprinter Diana Honcharenko won the 100m at the national championship with her second-best career time, while US Olympic champion Gabby Thomas set a world-leading 200m time at the Lone Star Grand Prix.
Ukrainian sprinter Diana Honcharenko secured victory in the 100-meter race at the Ukrainian Team Athletics Championship held in Lviv. Honcharenko, the reigning national champion, recorded a time of 11.50 seconds, marking her second-fastest performance ever. She reportedly expressed uncertainty about her expectations following an unconventional preparation for the season.
Meanwhile, three-time Olympic gold medalist Gabby Thomas of the United States established a new world-leading time in the 200-meter event at the Lone Star Grand Prix in Texas. Thomas, who won gold in the 200m and two relays at the Paris 2024 Olympics, extended her winning streak for the 2026 season. She had previously missed the 2025 World Athletics Championships due to an Achilles injury, returning to competition in April.
