Ukraine reports intense fighting, rising casualties, and potential new Russian offensive

Ukrainian forces reported 203 combat engagements, rising civilian casualties in Dnipro and Sumy, and Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi warned of a realistic Russian offensive threat to Chernihiv.
Ukrainian forces reported 203 combat engagements across the front on June 30, with 25 concentrated in the Pokrovsk direction. Russian forces conducted 51 air strikes, deploying 163 guided aerial bombs. The death toll from Russia's June 29 attack on Dnipro rose to seven after a 59-year-old man died in hospital, with 16 individuals still hospitalized, seven critically. In Sumy, a Russian guided aerial bomb strike on an infrastructure facility injured 21 people, two of whom were hospitalized, and 14 undergoing medical assessment. Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi stated that a Russian offensive on the Chernihiv region from Bryansk Oblast is a realistic possibility, for which Ukraine is preparing. He noted President Vladimir Putin has tasked his General Staff with evaluating offensive strategies, including from Belarus, to capture Kyiv. Ukrainian forces also reported approximately 1,350 Russian personnel killed or wounded on June 29, alongside 71 artillery systems destroyed. Sources: Радіо Свобода, Українська правда
