Ukrainian authorities reported a Russian drone strike near the Chernobyl power plant, specifically targeting a spent nuclear fuel storage facility. President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the incident, characterizing it as an "absolutely cowardly" attack and raising significant nuclear safety concerns. Separately, Russian shelling on Monday in the Kharkiv oblast initially resulted in three fatalities and several injuries. This figure was later updated to four deaths following an aerial attack overnight from Monday to Tuesday. Concurrently, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom have voiced support for President Zelensky's proposal to open direct dialogue between Kyiv and Moscow, suggesting the current line of contact should serve as a starting point for negotiations.
