Ukraine faces drone attacks, intense fighting, and Zaporizhzhia NPP power loss

Ukraine faced significant military activity on June 12-13, including extensive drone attacks, intense ground engagements, and urban combat in Kostiantynivka, which is now described as "semi-encircled."

Russian forces launched 118 uncrewed aerial vehicles against Ukraine on the night of June 13, with 110 reportedly intercepted or suppressed across the country. Three drones struck their targets, and debris fell in six locations. The General Staff reported 193 combat engagements, 61 air strikes, and over 6,000 drone attacks on June 12. Urban combat continues in Kostiantynivka, where a battalion commander described the city as "semi-encircled" due to Russian advances. Military experts suggest the city could fall within months, noting a significant worsening of the situation in June. Separately, the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant experienced its 19th complete loss of external power on June 10, around 9 PM, following an attack on an electrical substation, necessitating backup diesel generators, as confirmed by the IAEA.
