Swiss voters reject initiative to cap population at 10 million

Swiss citizens have rejected a proposal to cap the country's permanent population at 10 million in a referendum held on June 14. Official results released by the federal government indicate that 54.99% of voters opposed the initiative, while 45.21% supported it. Voter turnout for the referendum was nearly 59%. The proposal was put forward by the right-conservative Swiss People's Party, the nation's largest political party, aiming to address concerns about infrastructure and environmental impact.
