The Russian Hermitage Museum has cancelled all archaeological expeditions in occupied Ukrainian Crimea, according to archaeologist Oleksandr Butyagin. Butyagin, who leads the Myrmekion archaeological expedition near Kerch, stated in an interview with the St. Petersburg publication "Rotonda" that the decision was made "due to the aggravation of the situation." Butyagin himself was previously detained in Poland for his work on the peninsula and subsequently released in an exchange. An announcement regarding the postponement of work was also posted by the Myrmekion expedition group several days prior.
