Russia imposes new restrictions on agricultural imports from Armenia

Russia's agricultural watchdog, Rosselkhoznadzor, announced a ban on "quarantined products" from Armenia starting June 12, citing Khapra beetle contamination in nuts, dried peaches, and dried tomatoes.

Russia's agricultural watchdog, Rosselkhoznadzor, announced that imports of "quarantined products" originating from and shipped from Armenia would be prohibited starting June 12. The agency, in an announcement on June 11, cited three recent instances of Khapra beetle contamination found in Armenian nuts, dried peaches, and dried tomatoes. Rosselkhoznadzor indicated that these measures follow a series of "phased" restrictions on various Armenian agricultural products that have been implemented over time. The new ban specifically targets products deemed high-risk for pest transmission.
