Rubio states no agreements reached at Anchorage summit with Russia

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that no agreements were reached between the United States and Russia at last year's Anchorage summit, refuting Moscow's claims of a "spirit of Anchorage."

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, during a visit to Bahrain, stated that no agreements were reached between the United States and Russia at last year's Anchorage summit. Rubio's comments came in response to recent complaints from Moscow, which alleged that Washington was failing to uphold the "spirit of Anchorage" or understandings supposedly achieved there. The Secretary clarified that while "proposals for an agreement" were discussed, particularly concerning Ukraine, no formal deal was concluded. He emphasized that there were "no agreements whatsoever" made during the meeting between then-President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
