Romanian parliament advances bill for unification with Moldova

A bill proposing the unification of Romania and Moldova has passed the Romanian Parliament's Chamber of Deputies through a "silent approval" process, despite initial negative opinions from the government.
A legislative proposal advocating for the unification of Romania and Moldova has advanced through the Romanian Parliament's Chamber of Deputies. The bill, introduced on April 14 by deputies from the S.O.S. România party, passed via a "silent approval" procedure. This mechanism allows a bill to be automatically adopted after a 45-day period if no vote is held, as stipulated by the Romanian Constitution. Both the government and two relevant parliamentary committees had previously issued negative opinions regarding the proposal. Its passage through the Chamber of Deputies means it will now proceed to the Senate for further consideration. Sources: Радіо Свобода
