Walid Sadek, a Lebanese artist and writer born in Beirut in 1966, is recognized for his artistic exploration of the Lebanese civil war. Following his education in the United States, Sadek returned to Lebanon to delve into the conflict's profound impact through his work. He currently heads the Fine Arts and Art History department at the American University of Beirut, a role he has held since 2017. His art has been featured at numerous international venues, including the Venice Biennale. Sadek has stated, "A person, if lucky, is able to bear the weight of one war."
