Israel officially recognizes Armenian genocide

The Israeli government has officially recognized the Armenian genocide in the Ottoman Empire, marking the first such recognition at a governmental level. The decision follows a proposal by Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar, who stated it was made "out of moral and historical duty." Sa'ar further emphasized, "In my opinion, this is our moral obligation as Jews and, of course, as the state of the Jewish people." He had announced his intention to bring the matter for consideration on June 25. This move signifies a significant shift in Israel's stance on the historical event.
