EU implements new tariffs on steel and small parcels

The EU will implement new tariffs on steel imports (50%) and a €3 levy on small parcels from July 1st, aiming to strengthen its economic defenses against international competition.

The European Union is set to implement new trade measures targeting steel imports and small parcels, effective July 1st. Customs duties on steel imports will double to 50%, while duty-free import quotas for steel will be halved. Concurrently, a new €3 levy will be applied to each small parcel entering the EU. This move follows efforts by European nations to bolster their economic defenses against international competition. As a result of the new EU levy, France will suspend its own €2 tax on small parcels. These changes aim to address competitive pressures and regulate incoming goods.
