EU ambassadors begin process to open first negotiation cluster for Ukraine and Moldova

EU ambassadors, acting through the Committee of Permanent Representatives (Coreper), have formally initiated the process to open Cluster 1, "Fundamentals," for accession negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova. This move represents a significant advancement in the enlargement process, which the Cypriot EU Presidency has characterized as a strategic priority and a transformative policy for the European Union. The presidency highlighted that this positive development sends a strong signal of unity and determination. A common EU position on this initial cluster is expected to be officially adopted in the near future.
