Camille F., an epidemiology doctor, has been sentenced to twelve years in prison by a special assize court in Paris. The court delivered its verdict on Wednesday, June 10, finding that F. had joined the Islamic State (IS) group in 2013, bringing her three children to join her combatant husband, Sylvain M., who died in 2015. The court president stated that Camille F. and her husband had "knowingly chosen to bring their children into" a conflict zone. F. had reportedly experienced a "happy" childhood and pursued brilliant scientific studies before her involvement with the extremist group. She appeared in court as a detained individual.
